Three One-Act Plays

and A Spot of Coronation Nonsense

Directed & Produced by W Gordon Lyon

The Players present yet another selection of short plays, and by now many of the cast are becoming familiar names. W Gordon Lyon continues to take a prominent role as director/producer, and as writer of the second of the three plays. I assume that the Gordon Lyon listed among the cast is one and the same person, although this is the first time that he has appeared without the "W" prefix.

1953 was, of course, a very significant year, and one can imagine that "Coronation Fever" was beginning to sweep the country. This play took place less than six weeks before the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, and apart from marking the occasion with a special sketch, we see that 20% of the play's proceeds was donated to the Coronation Celebration Fund, presumably a fund set aside to pay for street parties and other community events. Is there anyone still living in the village who can remember the celebrations?
